This is a HUGE one! A lot of people register for Amazon Associates at the beginning of their blogging career because they assume it’s just good to “get it out of the way”. Don’t!! *foams at the mouth* I repeat: don’t register until your blog is reasonably established and you’re quite certain someone out there will buy something off of your link. Email marketing is still a highly effective channel for driving traffic to your website. However, it’s definitely evolved since the times of promotional blasts. Building a sequence that nurtures new sign-ups and develops a relationship is now an essential part of email marketing. In fact, even the basic welcome email is better than an old-school transactional one. According to a recent study, 320% more revenue is attributed to welcome emails than other promotional emails, so it definitely pays to have some kind of autoresponder series in place.

Also, be sure to research competitors, forums and social media to narrow down on topics for your blog.
